Daily recaps and Wrapped

Your child's day as a short story you can watch and keep — and the same for the month and the year.

For parents and guardians

What a recap is

A recap turns one day at the center into a short story you tap through: the moments teachers logged, what they wrote in the daily report, notes they chose to share with families, and that day's photos and videos. It's the same day you can read in the activity feed, told in order, with the pictures where they happened.

It fills in as the day goes. Meals, naps and diapers are in it as soon as they're logged. The written part — highlights, what the teacher noticed, notes and photos — joins once the room has finished the day and a director has approved it (see When each part appears). A note a teacher kept for staff never appears, and photos follow your child's photo permissions, the same as everywhere else in the app.

Opening one

  • From the activity feed. On the My Child tab, open Today's Activity Feed and tap the play button at the top. To watch an earlier day, step back to it in the feed first.
  • From the Today tab. Tap the count of moments or photos near the top of the screen.
  • From a notification. When your center lets you know the day is ready, tapping the notification opens the recap. If you have more than one child at the center, the app asks Whose day? first.
More than one child

The counts on the Today tab open your first child's day. For a brother or sister, go through their own activity feed so you get the right child.

Watching

The recap opens on a cover page for the day. Tap Watch the day — the button shows how long it runs — and it plays one moment after another. Tap the right side of the screen to skip ahead, the left side to go back, and the close button to stop.

Videos play with sound, so turn your volume down first if the baby's asleep.

If nothing has been logged for the day yet, you'll see that your child's day isn't ready yet. A recap watched mid-afternoon plays the meals and naps so far; the full story, with the highlights and photos, is there once the day's been approved, so the best time to watch is after pickup.

Saving a recap

Next to Watch the day is a bookmark button. It saves the cover page as an image, along with that day's photos, to your phone's photo library. The first time, your phone asks whether RoundUp can add to your photos — allow it, or there's nowhere to save to. When it works, a message confirms what was saved.

If you see Couldn't save — allow Photos access in Settings, open your phone's Settings, find RoundUp, and turn on photo access.

Pictures from the center often include other people's children. Think about those families before posting a saved recap anywhere public.

Wrapped: the month and the year

Under Today's Activity Feed on your child's card are two more: This month and The year. They play the same way as a daily recap over a longer stretch — days at the center, moments and photos from across it, and, when there's enough to go on, things only a longer view shows, like the word teachers used most.

  • This month is the current calendar month. Until the month ends, it's marked so far.
  • The year runs from the date your child was added to your center's RoundUp account, not from January. Before the first anniversary it plays the year so far; after that, it plays the most recent full year.

If nothing has been recorded yet, The year shows the date it opens instead, and an empty month says it's still being written. Wrapped follows the same rules as a daily recap: each day's meals and naps, the written part of days your center has approved, notes marked for families, and photos your child's permissions allow. The bookmark button saves it the same way, too.

Still stuck?

Your center's director can see your family's account and can fix most things fastest. If the app itself is misbehaving, that one's ours.
