Logging meals, naps, diapers and bottles
The Care Log forms, logging a whole room at once, and what happens to each entry after you save it.
Opening Care Logs
There are three ways in: the Care tab, More → Care Logs, or the Care Logs shortcut on the Classroom tab. Use the Classroom shortcut during the day. It opens with only your room's children listed, where the other two list every child you can see.
The screen has three tabs: Care Log, Potty and Medication. This article covers the first; for the others see Potty training and medication doses. Inside Care Log, Incident Report is where an incident gets filed. See Incidents and accidents.
If there's no Care tab and Care Logs says care log tracking isn't available, your center has it turned off.
One child or the whole room
Pick a form: Feeding, Nap, Diaper or Meal. The Nap, Meal and Diaper buttons above them jump straight in. Note that the Meal button opens the Feeding form; to record how much of a served meal children ate, use the Meal tab.
Every form starts with Apply to. Tap each child the entry is for (children are grouped by room, and each group can be searched) or tap Select all. The save button says how many children you're about to log, for example Log Nap · 5 children.
Saving writes a separate entry for each child, so every child's day carries its own record. Select all means everyone in the list, which is why opening from the Classroom tab matters.
Feedings and bottles
- Type: Bottle, Breast, Solid or Snack.
- Amount / Quantity: tap an amount (ounces for bottles and breast milk, All through None for solids and snacks) or type your own.
- Food (if solid/snack): if your center has published today's menu, its items appear as buttons.
Tap Log Feeding.
Naps
The Nap form opens with a reminder: SIDS Safe Sleep: Always place infants on their back. Infants go down on their back to sleep. That's standard safe-sleep practice, and it's why Sleep position starts on Back. Choosing Stomach shows a warning. If you found a child in another position, say so in the notes.
Set Start time and End time (optional) (Now fills in the current time), then tap Log Nap.
A saved entry can't be edited, so a nap logged at lie-down keeps an empty end time. Log it when the child wakes, with both times filled in.
Diapers and pull-ups
Choose Diaper or Pull-Up, then the Change type: Wet, Soiled, Diarrhea, Dry, Applied Cream or Rash. Put anything worth knowing, such as redness or which cream, in the notes, and tap Log Diaper Change.
A pull-up also offers Sat on potty, Accident, Potty — Urinated and Potty — Bowel Movement. Each entry holds one choice from the whole list, so a wet pull-up and a trip to the toilet are two entries.
These don't count toward a child's numbers on the Potty tab. For a child in potty training, log toilet trips on Potty so their progress adds up.
Meals
On the Meal tab, pick the Meal type (BREAKFAST, AM SNACK, LUNCH or PM SNACK), tap or type the Items offered, choose Amount consumed (All, Most, Some or None) and tap Log Meal.
Snack is where group logging earns its keep. Select everyone who ate the same way and save once, then log the child who ate nothing on their own.
After you save
Each entry goes on that child's daily report for the day, the same report you add to from Daily Reports, and counts toward its end-of-day check. Today's logs, under the forms, lists what's been logged today and when.
The child's family sees it straight away. Feedings, naps, diapers and meals don't wait for the end of the day or for a director — they're in the parent's activity feed within a minute or so of you saving. That's why a parent may message you about a bottle at eleven in the morning.
If you're offline, the entry is kept on the device and sent when the connection comes back. Don't log it twice.
Saved entries can't be edited or removed in the app. If something went in wrong, add a Notes entry to the child's daily report that corrects it. Tapping the row in Today's logs opens a new entry for that child, which is the quickest way there.
Habits that help
- Log as you go. Feedings, diapers and meals are stamped with the time you tap save. A lunch logged at five o'clock says lunch was at five.
- Check the selection before saving. Ten wrong entries take one tap to make and can't be taken back.
- Write the exception, not the rule. Most for the room is fine. The child who wouldn't eat because her mouth hurt is the note a parent needs.
